art of teaching…

Filed under: Life at Great Lakes

Students very busy with their laptops…Day dreaming and living in their own world and passing some messages across… all these things are likely to happen when the professor fails to capture the class with his style of teaching and knowledge.

Due to pressure from students some times management brings people directly from corporate. These people are highly knowledgeable in their field or work. But when it comes to sharing them or teaching they lack heavily in that. Really teaching is an art. When people fail in putting the thing across, I strongly feel that there is no point in having them even though they are outstanding personalities in the corporate world.

Okie… coming back to placement, some students here grabbed the opportunity from E-Serve and got through the interview. Very attractive pay-pack. Both Fresher’s and laterals grabbed the offers.

  1. A great teacher is not necessary be a good businessman and vice versa. As a student, it is their responsibility to grasp the maximum out of these successful people rather than passing the blame or excuse to others which no way is going to help them. What do you say??!!

  2. hey sobee,

This might be off-topic, but I just wonder about the pics you put in every post on the blog……it seems some of them are copyrighted stuff…do you actually go on taking persmissions from all the owners… or just post it? If the later then I guess being an MBA student you should certainly respect the copyright….

Just my two cents….and yeah no offense meant….

PS: Do you own all the pics…then that would be truly amazing…. :-)

  6. Dear Swami,

I am insisting the point that “Teaching is an art” and when institute select the people directly from the corporate they should strike the balance.

More over it will take long time to realize person intellectuality. In a 20 hours session like ours, People should be strong & sharp enough to put things across. Otherwise it proves futile at both the ends.

  8. As an example, see your october 3 post regarding “homework”. The picture of a little boy doing his homework is actually a picture copyrighted to Bill Coelman :-)

Just be careful of the pics you post.

Keep posting more about your bschool life and beyond.
