CO CO

Filed under: Life at Great Lakes

I am the course coordinator (COCO) for the subject Micro Economics. The first one I had was Macro Economics. This was really interesting because of the way the faculty taught us. He is a well known economist and has more than 12 years of teaching experience. His name is Mr. Rakesh Singh. Google it ! you will find lot of information about him. Even in this Micro Economics a part of it will be covered by him and the rest is covered by Mr. N S Shetty. He has around 31 years of teaching experience and 27 years of industrial experience. I think I will turn out to be an economist in coming years if these people are teaching in this way. Interesting part about my Macro-Economics was the assignment which we submitted recently. ET 2020 . That’s nothing but how Economic Times will look in the year 2020. Not the external design but the internal content. In my group, I took the manufacturing sector and did some analysis. Today I had my placement committee meeting. We have lot of plans to take it forward, in fact Uncle Bala interacting with many foreign companies world wide. That is sure to add lots of color to our placement this year.
At the end of today I am sure to speak more on demand and supply…

We are the Winners

Filed under: Life at Great Lakes

My Institute (Great Lakes) won the First Prize in the Coliseum - Event conducted by ICFAI. This is our first competition entry and really it was a great start. To celebrate that we have arranged a dinner party at Buena - Vista. Even though it is a small event we want to start our celebrations with our victory. At last we settled on ‘How Pre-Teens influence in deciding what brand products to buy in a family’ for our Marketing Research project. Where we need to use both exploratory and casual research methods to collect the information. The highlight of this subject is that this project carries the major marks and final exam carries only 10%. I may come and knock your door for data collection…Be ready…

falling…

Filed under: Life at Great Lakes

Falling is not that easy… I had a session where I need to free fall being blindfolded. People are around you to hold you but the point is we are very cautious and not able to free fall.(Believe me its not that easy…try it out) Prof said we need to trust. At last succeeded in the seventh attempt. It was a part of yesterday’s special session called ‘SpectAct’. It taught about group dynamics, group actions and its reactions over a situation. I know how I react but for the first time watched and analyzed how a group reacts. Prof came out with live examples and proved it in front of us. I need to accept the fact that our emotions will influence others. It can be well used positively. Prof is actually a Project Manager from Hexaware Technologies and also interested in theatre, EQ and lot more. Only limited no of people are allowed to attend the session and I was very lucky to be there. Today all the groups need to decide upon their MR (Marketing Research) project, where we need to get into the market and do a real time data collection. Many came up with analyzing contraceptive products, branding the institute, FMCG products, No-Frill Airlines etc. But my intention is to study about NGO’s in Tamil Nadu, the way they are working and how much of their contributions are really supporting in alleviating the prevailing issues. But not sure, I have prepared a small report and mailed it across to my group to peruse it. Hopefully, we will meet today and zero it. Interesting thing about this subject is the professor is from IIM C and is of age 29. Very informative and confident young prof. Aditya, is running his own consultant firm called Red Tree consulting. These people are really audacious and ambitious in starting their own firms in spite of getting good offers during their placements.

Stay awake !!!

Filed under: Life at Great Lakes

Hi World!!! This is not my first attempt to write blog, I have tried many times and never continued to stay with one. At least this I should hold it strong. Second week of my Term 2 is going as per my plans but finding it very important to stay awake in the classes. Went through lot of articles to stay awake … I mean complete concentration through out the class. As each and every word spent by professor’s are really costly. Financial Management by Mr. Ram Sriam (www.gsu.edu/~accrss) is really good and interesting. Have Chinese classes also in this term. It’s there in all the terms. Bit of painting and patience skills are required to learn Chinese. Initially had lot of plans in mastering it, now it fading a bit due to getting diversified with other subjects. There is also presentation tomorrow on Financial Management where I need to analyze three companies based on their balance sheet and ratio’s. My group is seriously working on it and I need to put it together in a power point.
See you all after my presentation…

This chinese new’s paper speaks about my Institute check it out http://www.thestandard.com.hk/stdn/std/Weekend/GF18Jp02.html
